You've heard me mention practise and mop-up pieces in some of my journal posts, so in the next couple of posts I thought I would show you what some of these pieces get turned into. Some get used in their own right as journal pages or perhaps as a tag but others get stashed away until the right project comes to mind and they get used for that, say as a background or ripped up for texture.
Because they are just scraps of card that I have either mopped up spare paint, ink or texture paste on or where I have practised a technique, played with a new stencil or product or just checked out out a particular colour or colour combo before doing it on my main project, there aren't any step-by-step process pictures for these posts I'm afraid...sorry.
So here is the first one I wanted to share. It was originally both a practise piece and a mop up piece that I turned into a journal page called Make it Count.
I was mopping up some Distress Inks (seedless preserves, peeled paint... love this combo) from my craft sheet whilst working on another project and then a couple of days later playing with a couple of new products I'd bought (Aga Baraniak stencils & Dreamweaver stencil embossing paste).
After I'd finished playing there was no way I could throw the scrape of card out, I like it too much. So, I added some machine stitching around the outside edge plus a few Ranger Remnant Rubs to create journal page.
Here are a few more pictures for you:
My sentiment is a Ranger Chit Chat sticker.
Oh, I also wiped off the remnants of some Ranger Crackle Paint (clear rock candy) left on my pallet knife onto the page ..... I just adore crackle paint... think you can just about make it out in the above picture.
A couple of lines of machine stitching around the outside edges......
The Dreamweaver embossing paste dried a little like a thin layer of styrofoam. It's an odd texture, not like a paste at all more like whipped foam in the jar and it doesn't seem to take up the colour of the paint it's applied over, like some other texture products do. I'll have to play with this new (for me) product a little more.
Perhaps you can get more of an idea of the texture in the above picture.
If you haven't heard of Aga Baraniak or her products then you should check them out..... the three mini stencils I bought are gorgeous and definitely great quality for the price. I'll definitely be shopping there again....... Her website is www.agabaraniak.com
And my final page again.....
Thanks for stopping by.... Happy crafting.
