Remember The Now - Journal Page

Hi everyone,

here is the second practise piece that turned into a journal page:

I was testing out some colours for one of the ALAD/ASAW  weekly challenge pieces that I was doing and didn't like the how the drippage or the colour looked. So I set this piece to one side and set to with another piece of card. It worked better second time around and that attempt eventually became my finished challenge piece.

Going back to this practise piece, once I'd toned down the drippage I'd done with Mars Black acrylic paint, by using a little Buff Titanium and white acrylic paints, I like the look of the page much better.

I decided to follow up with some Ferro texture paste (graphite) using an Aga Baraniak stencil. I really like the gritty sheen this texture paste gives....  think it has to be my favourite texture paste.

Next, still using this as a practise piece I tried out a new Aga Baraniak stamp (sorry I don't know the name) using Ranger Distress Ink (vintage photo). I also went round the edge of the page with the same ink to frame it.

I had a few scraps of vintage indenture paper on my work desk, left over from another project, and decided to layer these up with some vellum. Using vintage photo again I inked the edges and then machine stitch all the layers down the middle to create a focal point for the page.

As I was stitching I was just pondering how old the vintage indenture paper was that I was using. I have a lovely stash of this paper, they were originally my house deeds. Since the introduction of compulsory property registration here in the UK and the consequential use of electronic records, it now means that these lovely manuscript copies are redundant.

But I remember a time when they were your sole proof that you owned land or property...... and it doesn't seem all that long ago either!

So I chose 'remember the now' as my sentiment... live in the now and enjoy every moment. Time flies way way too fast for comfort.

Thanks so much for stopping by... happy crafting

Carol. xx
