Tammy Tag

I was browsing Tammy Tutterow's blog the other day and decided to try out the techniques she used on her Ticket to 2015 tag ( http://tammytutterow.com/2014/12/tutorial-ticket-to-2015-just-be/ ) and was really delighted how it turned out.

This is my tag....  

Tammy has a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the tag on her blog, so I'm not going to run through it again here other than to mention where I used different products.

To make the background I used a mix of Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey DI and Scattered Straw, Fossilised Amber and Mustard Seed DS.  Splatters and edging were done in Vintage Photo DI.

My embossing folder was a script by Provo Craft and my texture paste was as you can see above, Sweet Poppy glossy white dimensional paste.  If I'd had matt texture paste I would have gone for that but after using the glossy white I rather liked it.  It's not a high gloss and the gentle sheen provided a nice contrast to the matt finish of the main part of the tag. I really like how it 'soaked' up the colour from the DI/DS underneath too... gorgeous!

Also because this texture paste isn't thick it allowed some of the dimension from the embossed script to come through.

My ephemera was TH Thrift Shop. The metal embellishments were a mix of TH Idea-ology (cogs & gears and metal file tab) and Finnabair Mechanicals (mini hardware & numerals).

I seem incapable of doing any crafting without a healthy sprinkling of TH Remnant Rubs and on this occasion it was from the Ranger Botanicals set.

My seam binding was dyed with a mix of Wild Honey DI and Fossilised Amber DS.  After wrapping it around the tag and tying a fussy bow to one side, I thought it blended into the colour of the tag too much, so I dyed another length in Squeezed Lemonade DI and wrapped this round the tag too.

I used a little more of the Squeezed Lemonade seam binding for the ribbon at the top of my tag.  A tiny cog  and an off white photo anchor (for the date) were threaded through a jump ring to add a touch of interest to the top of the tag. Just adore Finnabair's screw heads 

As usually the whole thing was backed with black card. I think I'm going to have to reinforce my tag wardrobe for this tag. It weighs a ton with all the metal hardware

This is a great technique and I'll certainly be trying it out again, but perhaps next time with thicker matt texture paste to see how that looks.  If  you've not tried this technique why not give it a go and let me know how you get on.
