August Tag - Tim's 2015 Tag Challenge

Oh my goodness, you wouldn’t believe the roll-a-coaster I’ve been on this evening. I set myself a challenge at the start of the year to complete and post a tag for each month of Tim’s Tag of 2015 and this month I left it right up to the wire!!!!

Normally I luxuriate in my crafting but tonight I had a couple of hours to make and post my tag if I was to make the deadline…..it’s been a close thing.

Like Tim I used a couple of manilla size 8 tags: one was cut using the Sizzix Thinnest four piece die (No. 660220) harlequin and the other covered in Ranger script tissue paper

My choice of Distress Inks were:
Peeled Paint,
Crushed Olive,
Wild Honey and a tad of Pumice Stone.

I have to say at this stage I was hating the tag  although it looks pretty good in the  photo!

For my image I used granddad Thomas (sure he wouldn't mind).. I photocopied a family picture of my granddad, a father of twelve (!) and definitely the patriarch of our family on my mother's side. He was a stern and very Victorian gentleman, but then I guess he had to be with a family of twelve to work to support.  He truly is the legacy of our family.

For the ephemera I used  a couple of cut-aparts from the Graphic 45 Typography  8x8 designer paper pad which tied in with granddad Thomas’ work.  The pen nib that Tim chose was perfect too… mine was actually a calligraphy pen nib that I had in my stash.

For the remnant rubs I used the Rangers’s Numbers and Botanical Remnant Rubs to reflect his life and his work. My arrow was  a couple of Industrial  Sticker arrows, layered on top of each other to give dimension and then tied with garden twine to secure my Idea-ology Souvenir globe. The star was from the same Ranger Idea-ology collection (I just snipped away the loop with wire cutters before adhering it to my tag with glossy accents).

For the stamping I used black archival ink and a Stamping Up background stamp called French Script. My seam binding was coloured with Peeled paint and Crushed Olive Distress Ink.

As always, I backed my tag with black card-stock to neaten the back and added a charm (Tim's logo for the month) and an image of Tim's tag on the back to show where my inspiration came from.

WoW….. I never thought I could just let go and go with the flow but once again Tim has lead the way! I’m delighted with this tag…absolutely love it. Once the stamping was added to the background it all came together and using a black Faber Castell Big Pitt pen to shadow and outline made everything 'pop'. It's rather lovely to see granddad's face gently smiling out at me too.

Hope you like it too…. thanks for dropping by.

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Delighted you liked my tag. As always I had a ball making it albeit it was a bit rushed to get it submitted in time ... I've learnt my lesson and will given myself more time this month. Take care, C xx
